A N20 million prize was given to Stanley Nwabali, the Super Eagles goalkeeper by the governor of Rivers State, governor Siminalayi Fubara.
The governor gave him the prize for his outstanding performance at the just ended African Cups of Nations in Ivory Coast.
The governor also announced that Nwabali will be named Distinguished Service Star of Rivers State, while he hosted the Super Eagles team on Friday, February 16.
Fubara also donated N30 million to the Eagles’ crew who were there, according to The Punch.
He applauded the Rivers-born goalkeeper for his outstanding performance during the match.
Governor Fubara said “I want to join the great and wonderful people of Rivers state to congratulate you, our brother Stanley Nwabali and our wonderful team.”
The Governor also promised that his government would continue to provide purposeful governance and administrative efficiency since they are assisting the people of the state in engaging in honorable initiatives.
He stated that his aim was to create an enabling climate in which the residents of Rivers would continue to feel encouraged to do the right thing.
