The midfielder has been temporary stopped from featuring for both club and country after being judged to have used a banned substance.
Former Manchester United star Paul Pogba has been handed a four-year ban by Italy’s national anti-doping tribunal after he was said to have tested positive for doping.
The 30-year-old was previously handed a suspension in 2023 and misses a number of games, the midfielder revealed through his agent that he was innocent.
Pogba has now been handed a ban by the tribunal after an investigation revealed that he was guilty of the charge against him. As a result, the midfielder will not be allowed to feature in any official game until the end of the ban except the decision of the tribunal is changed.
In a statement, TNA said,“The National Antidoping Tribunal informs that, in acceptance of the instance proposed by the National Antidoping Prosecutor, it has provided for the provisional suspension of the athlete: Paul Labile Pogba (FIGC) for the violation of articles 2.1, 2.2; prohibited substance detected: Non-endogenous testosterone metabolites (The GC/c/IRMS results are consistent with the exogenous origin of the target compounds).”
The Frenchman has enjoyed a trophy-laden career thus far, winning the World Cup with France, four Serie A title, League Cup amid other diadems.
Pogba reacts to ban
Juventus star Pogba has expressed his shock after receiving the news of his ban and promised to appeal the decision at the Court of Arbitration (CAS).
In an Instagram post, Pogba said,”I have today been informed of the Tribunale Nazionale Antidoping’s decision and believe that the verdict is incorrect.
“I am sad, shocked and heartbroken that everything I have built in my professional playing career has been taken away from me. When I am free of legal restrictions the full story will become clear, but I have never knowingly or deliberately taken any supplements that violate anti-doping regulations.
“As a professional athlete I would never do anything to enhance my performance by using banned substances and have never disrespected or cheated fellow athletes and supporters of any of the teams I have played for, or against.
“As a consequence of the decision announced today I will appeal this before the Court of Arbitration for Sport.”
