Manchester City forwards Phil Foden and Erling Haaland have been nominated for Premier League Player of the Season award while Pep Guardiola is in contention for the Manager of the Season prize.
Foden, recently scooped the Football Writers’ Association Player of the Year award, following his scintillating performances in the 2023/24 campaign.
He was a cynosure of all eyes in the season, scoring 16 league goals besides his impressive assists.
Foden’s teammate Haaland has been consistent for City in attack this term, bagging in 25 league goals, amid other fine displays under the guidance of his manager Guardiola.
The strikers will compete with Arsenal’s duo of Declan Rice and Martin Ordegaard for a chance to clinch the individual award. They will also slug it out with Chelsea’s Cole Palmer, Newcastle United’s Alexander Isak, Liverpool’s Virgil van Dijk and Aston Villa’s Ollie Watkins.
Foden, while receiving the FWF award said: “Being named the Football Writers’ Association Footballer of the Year is a huge honour. I’m very, very happy to receive this award but I could not have done it without the help of my team-mates.
“I would also like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who voted for me as well as my fellow nominees.I’m immensely proud to have won this award.”
Foden and Haaland as well as manager Guardiola will be expected to be ready for Manchester City’s Premier League game against Wolverhampton Wanderers on Saturday.
