Vozinha made many saves in the encounter and dedicated his performance in the game to his mother who could not be at the tournament due to some logistic reasons.
One of the co-host countries, the United States of America decided to help the goalkeeper to realise his dream of seeing his mother cheer him at the global tournament by removing the bottlenecks and ensuring that she reunites with her son.
The goalkeeper has now inspired Cape Verde to clinch another crucial draw against Saudi Arabia, which was enought to see the team seal a place in the next stage of the tournament.
Egypt reach knockout stage
Egypt have joined other African countries that have nicked a place in the knockout stage of the World Cup after playing out a 1-1 draw w’against Iran on Saturday.
The result ensured that the Pharaohs finished second in their group with five points behind leaders, Belgium.
In another game, Senegal secured a 5-0 victory over Iraq with Idrissa Gueye bagging a brace in the game on Saturday. The result is not, however, enough to secure the side secure an automatic spot in the next stage of the tournament.
