The Nigeria Football Federation has confirmed the appointment of Finidi George as the Super Eagles substantial coach.
The appointment of the Enyimba manager was affirmed by NFF on Monday.
Finidi was appointed as the interim manager of the side in March and was in charge when Nigeria played two international friendly games against Ghana and Mali.
The Super Eagles secured a 2-1 victory over the Black Stars and then lost 2-0 to the Eagles.
The NFF subsequently continued the search for a substantial coach and revealed some criteria that must be met by the new Super Eagles coach.
Nigeria has been without a substantial coach since the departure of Jose Peseiro. The Portuguese tactician led the Super Eagles to a second-place finish at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast.
Former Tanzania coach Emmanuel Amuneke was penciled for the plum job along with Michael Nsien, who coaches the United State of America’s U16 side.
Finidi clinched his first title as a coach with Nigeria Professional Football side Enyimba in 2023.
He was part of the team that won the Africa Cup of Nations in 1994 and featured for a number of teams, including Ajax before his retirement.
