Phil Foden continued his impressive form in front of goal for Manchester City against West Ham United in Sunday’s Premier League game.
The 23-year-old who was recently named the English topflight’s Player of the Season and Football Writers’ Footballer of the Season was at his best at Etihad Stadium.
The forward found the back of the net with only two minutes into the game. The striker unleashed a fine strike after being set up with a pass by Bernardo Silva.
Foden, then registered his second goal in the match in the 18th minute, a real beauty, after receiving an assist from Jeremy Doku.
West Ham continued to strive towards reducing the deficit and a glorious opportunity fell in the way of Mohammed Kudus, moments before half-time, the Ghana star wasted no time as he slotted home his effort past Stefan Ortega.
After the restart of the game, City piled more pressure on the Hammers and increased the lead, moments before the hour mark. Rodri fired home a strike from outside the area which Alphonse Areola has no answer to.
Shortly before the end of the game, Foden made way for Mateo Kovacic. City held on to the lead and secured a historic victory.
The win sealed Manchester City’s Premier League triumph after finishing the 2023/24 campaign with 91 points, two ahead of second-place Arsenal.
Foden now finished the season with 19 league goals to his credit and bagged ten assists.
