Breaking: German footballer Toni Kroos to retire from football after Euro 2024

Real Madrid midfielder and Germany international Toni Kroos has confirmed on his instagram page that his journey as an active footballer will come to an end after the European Championship this summer. Toni Kroos joined Madrid from Bayern Munich and has gone on to be one of the finest midfielder in the game winning four Spanish League title with Real Madrid as well as Four Champions league and has the chance to make it five Champions League trophy with his last club game against Borussia Dortmund in the 2023/2024 Champions League final at Wembley. In his post Kroos appreciated Madrid fans for love shown him since he arrived at the club. He has this to say:

“July 17th, 2014 – the day of my presentation at Real Madrid, the day that changed my life. My life as a footballer – but especially as a person. It was the start of a new chapter at the biggest club in the world. After 10 years, at the end of the season this chapter comes to an end. I will never forget that insolent successful time! I would particularly like to thank everyone that welcomed me with an open heart and trusted me. But especially I would like to thank you, dear Madridistas, for your affection and your love from the first day until the last one. At the same time this decision means that my career as an active footballer will end this summer after the Euro championship”.

Kroos has always reiterated his wish for Madrid to be his last club as he could not see himself playing for another club after Madrid. “I’ve always said I wanted to retire here and this is what will happen. I never wanted another club”….“as could play some years more but I didn’t want to be on the bench, I want to enjoy, remember me like this, this player”. Toni Kroos also believed it is the best decision to bow out from the game now: “I am convinced that it is the correct decision. I wanted to end it in the best way possible and this season is one of the best I have played”.
