Fresh from their victory over Borrusia Dortmund on Saturday night, 15times European Champion Real Madrid have announced the signing of French International Kylian Mbappe on a five year contract to end one of football biggest transfer saga. Mbappe earlier met with French president and when quissed on when the transfer would be announced Mbappe seems to reply “tonight” “tonight” and true to that Real Madrid have officially welcomed the former PSG man to the club.
Mbappe joined PSG from Monaco after a breakthrough season in the 2016/2017 league season saw the Paris club signing Mbappe from Monaco on loan with a
mandatory purchase option of €180 million in August 2017. The France forward made his PSG debut on the 8th of September 2017 scoring in a 5-1 away win at Metz and four days later scored his first European goal for PSG against Celtic in a 5-0 win and ended the season wining the league title and the Coupe de france with the Paris club. He has went on to win several league titles and became the club all time goal scorer as well as playing alongside Neymar and Lionel Messi. On May 10th 2024, Mbappe announced via his social media that he would be leaving PSG at the end of the season and not renewing his contract which was set to expire at the end of the 2023/2024 season marking the end of his career at the club. On May 25th 2024, He played his final match for the club in a 2-1 over Lyon to win the Coupe de France trophy playing the whole 90 minute. A week after that victory, Kylian Mbappe has signed a 5 year contract with European Champion Real Madrid and will take over the number 9 jersey previously worn by his fellow countryman Karim Benzenma. End of a long protracted football transfer which has been looming for years with Mbappe linked to Madrid every transfer window. Mbapoe will link up with his new club after the Euro’s and will form a deadly partnership with Vini Jnr and Jude Bellingham who have both been standout performers for Madrid this season and will both be the overwhelming favourites for the ballon d’or 2024. Madrid will be the team to beat next season and obviously should be among the favourite for the European trophy next season. Just maybe they could be the first winner of the new format of the Champions League and win their 16th European trophy.
