Achrat Hakimi’s Goal Propels Morocco to Round 32

Achraf Hakimi was on the scoresheet to help Morocco secure a crucial 4-2 win over Haiti in their last group game at the 2026 World Cup on Wednesday. 

The Paris Saint Germain defender ignited a comeback for his side after going down to a tenth-minute own goal from goalkeeper Yassine Bounou, scoring in the 39th minute. 

Morocco were again on the backfoot after conceding in the 43rd minute, however, a late-minute strike before the half-time break from Ismael Saibali ensured a 2-2 draw. 

The Atlas Lions continued to push for a goal and deservedly got two after the restart of the game through substitute Soufiane Rahimi and Gessime Yassine. 

Morocco now have seven points from three games after previously forcing Brazil to a draw and securing a hard-fought victory over Scotland. 

The points ganered have ensured the Moroccans nick a place in the round of 32 of the global tournament, finishing second behind leaders, Brazil.  

Japan Oust Tunisia

Japan pommelled Tunisia 4-0 at the ongoing 2026 World Cup, thus, outsting them from the tournament. 

The African side previously suffered a 5-1 defeat to Sweden in their opening game and now at the bottom of Group F with no single point.  

Tunisia will play Netherlands in their last group game before departing from the tournament on Friday.
