Harry Kane scored twice to inspire England to a 2-1 victory over the Democratic Republic of Congo in a round of 32 match of the World Cup on Wednesday.
The Bayern Munich star made a telling effort in the game to ensure the Three Lions nick a place in the round of 16, scoring in the 75th minute to cancel out Brian Cipenga’s solo strike in the seventh minute.
DR Congo started the game impressively with goalkeeper Lionel Mpasi making important saves and the African side deservedly got the opening goal.
The Leopards held on to their lead until Kane scored with a powerful header and added the second, hitting the roof of the net with his audacious strike.
DR Congo are now the fourth African country that got ousted in the competition after South Africa, Tunisia and Ivory Coast. Only Morocco have qualified for the round of 16 after they defeated Netherlands and Senegal will try Belgium for size later today.
