Liverpool “devastated” by the death of Diogo Jota

Premier League club, Liverpool has announced the death of Diogo Jota along with his brother Andre on Thursday.

Jota was involved in a car accident which claimed his life along with his brother in Spain. The forward joined the Reds 2020 and was a key component of the side that claimed the league title.

Prior to his arrival at Anfield, he played for Paco’s de Ferreria, Aletico Madrid and Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Liverpool has expressed its deep sadness following the loss and wants the privacy of the family to be respected during this period.

“Liverpool Football Club are devastated by the tragic passing of Diogo Jota,” read a statement from Liverpool website.

“The club have been informed the 28-year-old has passed away following a road traffic accident in Spain along with his brother, Andre.

“Liverpool FC will be making no further comment at this time and request the privacy of Diogo and Andre’s family, friends, teammates and club staff is respected as they try to come to terms with an unimaginable loss.

“We will continue to provide them with our full support.”

Jota also won the FA Cup with Liverpool, the UEFA Nations League title with Portugal, besides other individual accolades. He is survived by a wife and three children.
