Tinubu’s aid blasts Kemi Badenoch for maligning Nigeria’s image

President Tinubu’s aid on social media, Dada Olusegun has lashed out at the leader of United Kingdom Conservative Party and leader of the opposition, Kemi Badenoch for demarketing Nigeria and negatively painting the image of Nigeria.

Dada made this known on one of his social media platforms while reacting to the statements credited to the UK politicians where she said the Nigerian citizenship is difficult to obtain.

She explained that she got her Nigerian citizenship through her parents but her children have not been able to benefit from it because she is a woman.
Badenoch said the British government is naive because of its flexibility when it comes to obtaining the citizenship of the country.

Dada carefully explained the procedures for obtaining the Nigerian citizenship constitutionally which negates Badenoch’s statements.

(This is a) “continuous attempt to malign Nigeria,” Dada stated. “You do not need to apply for registration or naturalisation for your child(ren) to be citizens.

“Why do you continue to lie against your motherland? Why this continuous dangerous and desperate attempt to malign Nigeria? Chapter 3, Section 25 (1)(c) of the 1999 Nigerian Constitution states that If the Nigerian woman is a citizen by birth:

“Your children, whether born in Nigeria or abroad, are Nigerian citizens by descent, automatically under Section 25 of the Nigerian Constitution. This holds regardless of the father’s nationality.”

Vice President of Nigeria Kashim Shettima had also frowned at the way Badenoch has been portraying the country internationally.

He urged her to remove Kemi from her name, which connects her to Nigeria, if she is not comfortable to align with the country of her origin.

“Kemi Badenoch, the leader of the British Labour or Conservative Party. We are proud of her in spite of her efforts at denigrating her nation of origin.

“She is entitled to her own opinions; she has even every right to remove the Kemi from her name but that does not underscore the fact that the greatest black nation on earth is the nation called Nigeria.”
