WAFCON: Nigeria must be wary of untiring Morocco, warns Oparanozie

Desire Oparanozie has warned Nigeria to be wary of the host country, Morocco when they clash in the final of the Women African Cup of Nations at Olympic Stadium on Saturday.

The former Super Falcons striker revealed that Morocco is a side that does not give up easily and always aim for victory, as such the nine-time champion must be ready for the North African team.

Oparanozie is, however, confident that Nigeria is capable of handling big games and will not be intimidated by the spectators in Rabat.

“I’ve seen a Moroccan team that doesn’t really give up even when they are trailing,” Oparanozie said. “They’ve been very impressive. They keep coming at you and that’s really a positive thing.”

“Nigeria is known for big moments like this. In 2016 we played against the host nation Cameroon [in the final]. The stadium was filled to 40,000 capacity and that didn’t stop Nigeria from winning.”

Super Falcons star Michelle Alozie is optimistic that his side can clinch the trophy for the tenth time in Rabat and has tagged the competition as “Mission X.”

“Mission X – that’s what this entire tournament was about,” Alozie said. “It’s going all the way to the final and winning it. We’re growing as a team and I think that shows every game.”

Alozie scored the winning goal against South Africa in the semi-final and has made other vital contributions to the team in the competition.
