Nigeria clinched the Women African Cup of Nations trophy after a 3-2 magical comeback against Morocco in the final of the competition in Rabat on Saturday.
The cup is the 10th for the Super Falcons which make them the most successful team in Africa and helped them to stamp their dominion on the continent.
Nigeria started the game on the backfoot, conceding as early as the 12th minute when Ghizlane Chebbak beat her marker before unleashing a shot past goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie.
The Moroccans continued to press the Super Falcons and for the second in the 24th minute when Sanaa Mssoudy capitalized on another defensive laxity to put her name on the score sheet.
The Atlas Lionesses dominated the first half but after the restart the game took a new turn with Nigeria dictating proceeding and reduced the deficit from the penalty spot, 19 minutes into the second-half through Esther Okoronkwo.
Folashade Florence Ijamilusi then equalised in the 71st minute for the Super Falcons before Jeniffer Echejini scored the winning goal to seal Nigeria’s victory.

Nigeria, thus, got a brand new trophy and $1million price for the success, having been recently increased. The Super Falcons got a partry $200,000 after winning the title in 2018.
Captain Rasheedat Ajibade won the best player of the tournament, Nnadozie clinched the best goalkeeper of the prize. Nigeria’s Justin Madugu was named the best coach while Morocco’s Chebbak won the Golden Boot award.
