Emotional Breakdown in Court as Chrisland Schools Principal Stands Trial

On April 1st, three staff members and a vendor of Chrisland Schools was arraigned before an Ikeja High Court by the Lagos State government, concerning the death of Withney Omodesola Adeniran, a 12-year-old pupil of the school.

The defendants facing are Ademoye Adewale, Kuku Fatai, Mrs. Belinda Amao, Nwatu Ugochi Victoria and Chrisland Schools Limited.

The Prosecuting team was led by the state Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Moyosore Onigbanjo, SAN, and Director of the Department of Public Prosecutions (DPP), Dr Jide Martins.

according to The Nation, the defendants were arraigned on two count charges of involuntary manslaughter, reckless and negligent acts preferred against them by the state.

During the trial, Mrs. Belinda Amao, the 3rd defendant and principal of the school, broke down in tears, as reported by The Punch.

Her colleagues consoled her before the trial could resume.

Justice Oyindamola Ogala adjourned the trial until May 25, April 1, 8, and 15, 2023, as reported by The SUN.
