WAEC refutes cancelling of 2025 Examination

The West Africa Examination Council ( WAEC) has refuted claims making the rounds that the body has cancelled the 2025 examination.

The May/June WASSCE was marred with several complaints from some stakeholders in the educational sector, including students and parents.

Some of the stakeholders expressed their dissatisfactions with late arrival of questions, especially during their English Language examination. The late arrival made some of the students to use touch lights and other materials during the exam.

On Sunday, the acting head of public affairs of of the body, Moyosola Adeshina released a statement to dismiss suggestion that the exams have been nullified.

“The said examination has not been cancelled,“ Adeshina said.

“Though the source of the information cannot be ascertained, the Council is certain that the false claim is being peddled by mischief-makers who are bent on bringing the Council to disrepute and causing confusion and panic among candidates who sat the examination.

“We therefore urge our stakeholders and the general public to disregard the said publication.”

Five West African countries write WAEC which include Ghana, Nigeria, Sierra Leone, The Gambia and Liberia.
