Nigeria ends Group A with victory as Ivory Coast loses to Equitoria Guinea

The Super Eagles recorded a narrow victory while the Elephants of Cote D’Ivoire lost their last group match.
Nigeria secured a 1-0 victory over Guinea Bissau in their last Group A game of the Africa Cup of Nations tournament at Felix Houphohouet-Biogny on Monday.
Opa Sagante’s goal handed three points to the Super Eagles. The defender turned the ball into his own net in the 36th minute of the game.
Basking in the euphoria of their victory over Ivory Coast, Nigeria coach, Jean Peseiro named a strong team against Guinea Bissau. The Portuguese tactician started Joe Aribo, Moses Simon and Bright Osayi-Samuel in the match while goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali maintained his place in goal.
Guinea Bissau coach, Basiro Candel started Edgar le, Janio Bikel, Dalcio Gomes, Mendes Gomes, Famana Quizera, Nito Gomes, Zinho Gano in the match. The manager started Zinho Gano in attack. The combination produced almost a significant effect when Nito troubled the Super Eagles’ defence in the seventh minute of the game. Nigeria also made frantic efforts to break the deadlock and in the 36th minute of the game, Sagante scored an own goal to give the Super Eagles an edge. A minute before the end of the first-half, Nigeria defender Semi Ajayi was cautioned.
In an effort to fortify the team, Candel introduced Marciano SancaTchami for Mendes and Franculino Dju for Gano at the start of the second half of the clash. Nigeria pushed for more goals and came close to scoring in the 56th minute when Osimhen headed towards goal but his effort went off target. Guinea Bissau also came close to equalise in the 86th minute throughTtchami but his strike was not adjudged as a goal. Before the end of the game, Nigeria coach made one substitution by replacing Ola Aina with Chidozie Awaziem.
With this result, Nigeria ends Group A with seven point from three games while Guinea Bissau ends the group without a point.
On the other hand, Ivory Coast suffered a 4-0 shock defeat against Equitoria Guinea on Monday.Emilio Nsue score a brace, Pablo Ganet and Jannick Buyla found the back of the net with their strikes.
