Osimhen: Napoli and Nigerian star not immediately keen on Premier League move

Despite being linked to the English topflight, the Super Eagles forward has revealed his determination to end the rest of the season with his Italian club.
Napoli striker Victor Osimhen has explained that he is not immediately interested in moving to the Premier League and revealed he will explain his next ‘plans’ soon.

The forward has consistently been displaying fine performances for both club and country and recently was named the African Footballer of the Year for the first time in his career. In the 2023/24 season, the striker has scored seven Serie A goals for Napoli and recently emerged as the highest goals scorer during the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, thereby, helping Nigeria to secure a place in the ongoing AFCON in Ivory Coast.

In a recent interview with CBS Sports, the Super Eagles striker explained that he will spend the rest of the season with Napoli and thereafter reveal his future plans. He said: “I already made up my mind. I already have my plan, I know what I want to do, the next step I want to take.I think 60% of the people mention the rumours about me linked with the Premier League. The Premier League is one of the biggest leagues in the world. I want to finish the season with Napoli strong then come up with the decision I’ve already made.”
Osimhen recently played a pivotal role as Nigeria eased into the Round of 16 of the 2023 AFCON tournament. He has scored once in the continental competition and should be involved when his side takes on Cameroon on Saturday.
